Jonathan gained his doctorate in 1994 from the University of Warwick, and subsequently held a British Academy Post-doctoral Fellowship at the Institute of Archaeology in Oxford, and a Fellowship at Dumbarton Oaks. He has published articles on the archaeology and topography of Constantinople, and is the author of Brickstamps of Constantinople (2 vols, Oxford 2004). He is completing a book on the sixth-century church of St Polyeuktos.

Dr Bardill is Leverhulme Trust Research Fellow on the Water Supply of Constantinople Project.
