Dr Lyn Rodley, well known for her work on the
rock-cut churches of Cappadocia and for her magisterial introduction to
Byzantine art and architecture, has been appointed Helen Waddell Visiting
Professor (2003-2006) in the Institute of Byzantine Studies, Queen's
University Belfast. As Dr Rodley has done sterling service for Byzantine
Studies here in Belfast for many years, we are extremely gratified by this
recognition of her time, effort, dedication and scholarship.
Dr Rodley is a regular teacher of Byzantine art in Belfast, and author of the Runciman prize-winning Byzantine art and architecture: an introduction (Cambridge University Press, 1994), a systematic introduction to the material culture of the Byzantine empire, from the fourth to the fourteenth centuries.
